Director Stokin visited Brno for the first time

New director of the International Clinical Research Centre, famous neurologist Gorazd B. Stokin, visited Brno for the first time. He met with his team to discuss the principles of mutual cooperation, with an emphasis on the further development of cooperation with foreign institutions and industrial companies. He also plans to actively participate in the clinical research activities.

Dr. Stokin was chosen upon the basis of recommendation from a professional international committee, having previously worked at the University Medical Center and University Psychiatric Hospital in Ljubljana, Slovenia, and the United States. “For me, ICRC is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to improve the quality of medical care. It is a very unique project and I am glad to be a part of it,” says Dr. Stokin about his decision to apply for the position of the director of ICRC.
Mr. Stokin will finish his work in Ljubljana and start cooperating with his new colleagues in Brno during June and July. He will relocate to Brno in August.


Résumé – Gorazd Bernard Stokin, MD, PhD
Dr. Stokin was born on February 25, 1968 in Slovenia. He graduated from high school in 1987. Having completed his studies at the university in Trieste, Italy, in 1994, he went on to pursue his doctorate at the University of California in San Diego. In his professional work, he focuses on Alzheimer’s disease, especially the early stages. He has published the outcomes of his work in numerous prestigious magazines; he is a member of international professional associations, such as the American Academy of Neurology or the Society for Neuroscience. As the head of a special committee, he cooperated with the Ministry of Health of Slovenia in the preparation of a national strategy for the improvement of care for patients with dementia. He is also the co-author of a patent for the improvement of care for patients with Alzheimer’s disease. He has frequent lectures at foreign institutions and international conferences.
Dr. Stokin is fluent in three languages and he speaks another five.
